Outside Fires!

As the nights are getting cooler and the urge to have outside fires is getting stronger please remember the following rules.

The burning of yard waste is prohibited. Smoke from open burning, embers, and stray sparks can cause damage to property, health issues, and be a nuisance. Approved portable outdoor fireplaces are permitted for use. Outdoor fire places shall be used according to the manufactures instructions and shall not be operated within 15 feet of a structure or combustible material. Portable outdoor fireplaces shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished. There shall be on site fire extinguishing equipment such as a fire extinguisher, garden hose, sand, or dirt readily available. In the event the burning in an outdoor fire place becomes a nuisance the fire department, police department, and fire marshal’s office are authorized to have the fire extinguished. To notify authorities of prohibited burning or a nuisance dial 911.

From: Lower Southampton Township Office of the Fire Marshal and the Lower Southampton Fire Department.

Please be safe and enjoy.

Pa. Fire Departments in Crisis-Volunteer Numbers Drop

We at LSFD welcome any new member. Stop in any Monday or Thursday evening (7 pm to 9 pm) and see what we offer. Applications are available on our website LS6FD.com under the download tab. Print one out, fill it out and stop in and drop it off.
We look forward to meeting you.

Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner

FACT: In 1970, there were more than 300,000 volunteer firefighters in Pennsylvania. Today, there are about 36,000.

The Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner is playing an important role in identifying and addressing some of the key factors responsible for the volunteer shortage.

We’re always thrilled to see young volunteers, like those featured in this piece⤵️, showing up in our communities’ fire departments. We encourage young Pennsylvanians to visit local fire companies to learn what they do and how to help!

This evening LSFD was dispatched for a fire alarm activation at the Verizon building along Andrews Road. Chief6 arrived and an employee reported smoke coming from an unknown location in the building. With the assistance of Feasterville Fire Company and Trevose Fie Company the source of the smoke was from a malfunctioning Air conditioner.
This is another reminder that Smoke alarms work and Save Lives and property.

Today LSFD, Feasterville Fire Company and the Fire Marshals Office responded to a fire alarm activation at Fireside Smokehouse Bar & Grill. Units arrived and found the Smoker doing its job quit well as the cook was preparing the famous Beef Brisket and Smokey Ribs. Only problem was today’s wind forced the smoke into the building which activated the fire alarm.
Other then moving the smoker a bit farther away from the building and clearing the smoke from inside, the best Smoked Beef Brisket and Ribs were saved.
It was a mouth watering call as the smoking process smelled delicious.
Please continue to support our local businesses.
